These Editor Guidelines outline the responsibilities, ethical standards, and best practices expected of editors serving on GRPD journals.

1. Role of an Editor

Editors are responsible for managing the editorial process and making publication decisions based on the scientific quality, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.

Editors should ensure that every manuscript receives a fair, timely, and unbiased evaluation while maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

2. Editor Eligibility

Editors serving on GRPD journals are expected to possess appropriate academic qualifications and expertise in their respective disciplines.

Preferred qualifications include:

• A postgraduate degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated research and publication experience.
• Previous editorial, reviewing, or academic leadership experience (preferred).
• A strong understanding of research ethics and scholarly publishing.

3. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are expected to:

• Conduct an initial editorial assessment of submitted manuscripts.
• Determine whether manuscripts are within the journal's scope.
• Assess originality, scientific quality, and ethical compliance.
• Assign qualified independent reviewers.
• Monitor the peer review process.
• Evaluate reviewer reports objectively.
• Communicate editorial decisions clearly and professionally.
• Maintain consistency and fairness throughout the editorial process.

4. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions must be made independently and solely on the basis of academic merit, research quality, originality, and ethical standards.

Editors must not be influenced by:

• Authors' nationality, race, gender, religion, or political views.
• Institutional affiliation or professional position.
• Commercial interests or financial considerations.
• Publication fees or Article Processing Charges (APCs).

5. Confidentiality

GRPD follows a double-blind peer review process. Editors must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts, authors, reviewers, and all unpublished information throughout the editorial process.

Editors must not:

• Share manuscript content with unauthorized individuals.
• Use unpublished research for personal or professional benefit.
• Reveal reviewer identities unless permitted by journal policy.

6. Conflict of Interest

Editors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest before handling a manuscript.

Examples include:

• Personal or professional relationships with the authors.
• Recent research collaboration.
• Financial or commercial interests related to the manuscript.
• Institutional conflicts that may affect impartiality.

Where a conflict exists, the manuscript should be reassigned to another qualified editor.

7. Ethical Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for promoting ethical publishing practices and addressing potential cases of research misconduct.

Editors should:

• Identify possible plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data manipulation.
• Ensure that research involving humans or animals meets ethical requirements.
• Handle allegations of misconduct fairly and confidentially.

8. Editorial Decisions

After considering reviewer reports and editorial evaluation, editors may recommend one of the following decisions:

• Accept – The manuscript meets publication standards.
• Minor Revision – Limited revisions are required.
• Major Revision – Significant revisions are necessary before further consideration.
• Reject – The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards or scope.

Editors should provide clear reasons for their decisions and ensure that communications with authors remain respectful and constructive.

9. Corrections and Retractions

Editors have an ongoing responsibility to maintain the integrity of the published literature.

Where necessary, editors should recommend appropriate post-publication actions, including:

• Publication of corrections.
• Expressions of concern.
• Article retractions in cases of serious ethical or scientific issues.

10. Professional Conduct

Editors are expected to perform their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, impartiality, and respect.

Editors should:

• Maintain timely communication with authors and reviewers.
• Support a fair, transparent, and efficient editorial process.
• Encourage constructive peer review.
• Protect the reputation and integrity of the journal.
• Promote diversity, inclusion, and academic excellence.

11. Becoming an Editor

Researchers, academics, and experienced professionals interested in serving as editors are invited to apply through the official GRPD Join as Reviewer & Editor application page.

Applications are evaluated based on academic qualifications, research expertise, publication record, editorial experience, and the needs of individual journals.
